mothers day 2022

This Sunday wonder | wander | world celebrates Mother's Day across the globe.

In the Philippines the leading presidential contender is a charismatic and popular woman majority of Filipinos are rooting for.

Here in the US, with the leaked supreme court draft to overturn Roe vs Wade, we are marching in the streets once more to loudly protest our distrust for yet another institution of government.

To soothe our ravaged spirits, we turn to the words of wisdom from poet laureate Amanda Gorman:

National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman on Abortion Bans

Listen to Amanda Gorman demonstrate her commitment to poetry as activism in a video from NowThis News. Where she addresses the importance of keeping abortion legal and stated eight reasons why we should “stand up … against abortion bans in the United States."

LOVE our Mother

wonder | wander | world celebrate motherhood, maternity, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers.

We do not inherit the planet

from our ancestors,

we borrow it

from our children.

Goddess Gaia
guides women (and others) to reexamine their relationships - fierce traits like hunger, anger, ugliness, ambition - entwined a woven with softer ones of kindness, nurture, maternal nature.

She teaches us to embrace a new image of the female hero. An all knowing monstrous wonder with the agency and power to match. Definitely no shrinking, shy, feckless female.

A glorious Mothers Day to us all!

Mother's Day 2019

Celebrations of mothers and motherhood can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who held festivals in honor of the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele.

The clearest modern precedent for Mother’s Day is the early Christian festival known as “Mothering Sunday.”

Once observed as a day on which people would visit their "mother" church, it has become an occasion for honoring the mothers of children with feasting and gift giving.

To all past, current and future Mother Goddesses - any and all who embody, represent and personify nature, motherhood, fertility, creation, destruction and the bounty of our Mother Earth.

Happy Mother's Day to you!
