Each friend holds a different purpose in life and brings a different type of friendship to the table. They may be meant to stay forever or only for a short period of time - either way, they bring their own uniqueness into life and ignite ours as well.

There are those who come into our lives and they leave them for whatever reason - they satisfied what we needed from the friendship in that moment. Even though their presence was so important at that time, it may no longer hold the same significance.
The memories of course are there to keep forever - the many shared experiences engrained in our minds - yet letting go and moving on happens. Our reason met our season ended.

By contrast a lifetime is long yet happens in a blink. Lifetime friends are there beside us through it all - near and far. We may lose touch with them for months on end, we may change in the meantime, yet our friendship holds us together all throughout.
These friends are here for the long-haul - we are dedicated to a lifelong friendship. These are friends mutually chosen and equally beloved. In each other our truest self is the only person we know.

To friends only here for a reason and a season - thank you for mirroring to me things about myself that enriched and expanded me - as a person and as a friend. Our season may have passed, but our friendship still holds importance and continues to impact my life.
To lifetime friends - found and tested, started or ended - they remain a constant presence and influence. For now we are lifetime friends and I thank you for dedicating the time to the changes we embrace co-heartedly - hopefully for a full lifetime.
