Christmas is in the air! Happy holiday cheer to all!

native bamboo Christmas ornaments

The Philippines is notorious for having the longest Christmas season and Filipinos throw ourselves fully into the holiday spirit with great gusto.

We have countless Christmas customs to celebrate the occasion - with food, feasting, and festivals fare. Christian, traditional, or familial - we all have our special triggers, practices, and customs that enliven our celebrations.

There bamboo trimmings capture the spirit of Christmas in our island home. They are a collaborative creative achievement between Hacienda Crafts of Manapla, Negros Occidental and CM Bamboo Craft Centre of Iloilo.

These beauties are a loving homage to our local Negrense sugarcane farm workers. With the use of indigenous, renewable local materials that provide livelihood in a sustainable environment.

Hacienda Crafts' Christina “Ina” Borromeo Gaston

Sharing her vision of art with them, Ina Gaston provides jobs for our skilled artisans while re-connecting us all to the island culture - preserving the traditions of Filipino craft in fresh and innovative ways.

Brava, Ina! Bravo to our local crafters! Bravo to Negros Season of Culture for the Christmas feature!

Malipayon nga Paskwa! Paghidaet sa Bag-ong Tuig. Merry Christmas! Peace in the New Year.
