kintsugi | Mahala & Issa

Happy pre birthday celebrations for Mahala who is marking a new decade in her life.

Happy Labor Day weekend here in the US and for me too.

As we celebrate the labors of love and those of us who labored in love to create this world we live in.

At the Met entrance for Heavenly Bodies - Summer 2018

We bow down in humble gratitude and appreciation for lives enriched by our collaborative efforts.

The Eastern philosophical concept of kintsugi is an apt metaphor for our interesting times.

This remarkable Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with elegance and grace is a tradition with a lot to teach us.

In showing up the broken bits of our lives and ourselves. Not hiding them.

The flaws and cracks are made visible. Creating something unique and beautiful.

For Mahala and I, we have lived our lives apart more than physically together.

As the gold that highlights kintsugi art, our connection and collaboration have grown and strengthened through the years.

Individually and together. Separate parts becoming whole. There is much love here.
