Inktober 2017: stretch goals

The leaves are falling, the nights are longer, and it's time for our second favourite October tradition. Inktober, Jake Parker's challenge to the community of digital illustrators and artists, asks us to do a single, finished ink drawing every day until the end of October.

We gain momentum through the cycle of working, finishing, posting, and then seeing what our fellow artists have done.

Here's one of my favourites this year, Minnie Small drawing haunted houses in black ink.

There is no judgement or jealousy, only excitement.

We play with the inks, mixing fine lines with sloppy washes and drips, using the same ink for delicate tinting and intense bursts of colour.

We do our favourite thing, draw a collection or one object over and over. No fear that something is too boring or repetitive.

What comes into our head goes on the page. There's no time to critique; only the end of the month will tell whether we've made a beauty or a beast.

Happy inking!
